I used to despise the term 'Totalitarian' because it was lazy, but this action is completely unjustified and is intended to end critical thinking in Turkey, it fits that term to a 'T'.

The world is descending into the extremitudes of violence, ignorance, and repression. As a business leader within the aggressively-high-growth American and UK software startup world, the act of imprisoning academics - no matter how annoying, misguided or ass-backwards they might be - sets a terrible precedent. Technological innovation requires criticism - if you cannot criticize you cannot innovate. The world has moved on - the age of information (freedom of thought and creativity) and automation are upon us. Fighting for a retreating past is the worst way to prepare for the high-velocity future. Please show clemency and release the academics and rejoin the world as we face the future.
