Purging academics is not the actions of a statesman it is the action of a thug. Academic freedom is important for the educational future of your nation, that should be important for a statesman and a president too.

As a Humanities academic, I have been always impressed by the sheer quality and breadth of the work of fellow Turkish researchers, their engagement, their rigour and their openness to genuine encounter with other cultures and ideas. This is a sad day...solidarity from Ireland friends-keep strong, keep writing!!!

In the name of opposing army coup, suppressing academics and other people is another name for fascism. What Kamal Ataturk built as modern Turkey Erodgan is taking it back to dark ages!Must stop this madness!

Please, Turkey has been for centuries a beacon of multiculturalism, knowledge and, straight up, political brilliance. Don't change that.

The EU should flex its muscle and not let Erdogan get away with his cynical disregard for the rule of law.
