Purging academics is not the actions of a statesman it is the action of a thug. Academic freedom is important for the educational future of your nation, that should be important for a statesman and a president too.

As a Humanities academic, I have been always impressed by the sheer quality and breadth of the work of fellow Turkish researchers, their engagement, their rigour and their openness to genuine encounter with other cultures and ideas. This is a sad day...solidarity from Ireland friends-keep strong, keep writing!!!
