Since December, 2021, the new Omicron variant of COVID-19 has swept across the world and caused record high outbreak of the Omicron infections. People who were fully vaccinated or even with the booster shot were also infected. It seems that the existing vaccines could not prevent the infection of the new variant of COVID-19, but only reduce the risk of severe illness and death.

As COVID-19 can mutate faster than we can develop the new vaccine for it, the existing vaccines could be less effective when a new variant emerges. We should put more effort in finding or developing a broad-spectrum antiviral medicine against COVID-19 and its new variants.

Fortunately, there is one broad-spectrum antiviral medicine available now that has already been used to treat millions of people on COVID-19 and saved hundreds of thousands people’s lives worldwide. That’s Ivermectin.

Since the beginning of the COVID-19 Pandemic, many countries have used ivermectin as the effective medicine for the prevention and treatment of COVID-19 and its new variants. Nigeria, the most populous nation in Africa with 200 million population, has a great control on COVID-19 using ivermectin as their main medicine for COVID-19. Their vaccination rate is only 6%. Their daily infection rate has never reached five figures with the total number of COVID-19 cases less than 250,000 for the past two years, while the United States has over 76 million people infected with daily record high at 1.4 million on January 10, 2022.

Same thing happened to India, Japan, Indonesia, Mexico, Peru, Brazil and South Africa in the summer of 2021. When the Delta variants broke out in these countries, they all experienced record high infections and horrible death rate due to the COVID-19/Delta variants. Then, they all implemented ivermectin in their prevention and treatment protocol on COVID-19, and the infection and death rate plummeted over 95% in the next few months.

When the Omicron emerged in South Africa in November 2021, two third of people in South Africa were unvaccinated. Their main medicine for preventing and treating COVID-19/Omicron is ivermectin. And shortly afterward, their infection rate plummeted by 90% and South Africa declared Omicron was over in South Africa on January 18, 2022 while most countries in the world still suffered the record high infections of Omicron.

Unfortunately, for the United States and its western allies in the United Kingdom, the European Union, Canada, Australia and Israel, the health regulators still do not approve ivermectin for the prevention and treatment of COVID-19 and its new variants. They claimed there is not sufficient clinical trials to prove the effectiveness of ivermectin on COVID-19, while tens of thousands of doctors around the world used ivermectin to save patients’ lives.

Ever since the first approval of ivermectin by FDA for human use to treat parasitic diseases in 1987, this Nobel Prize honored medicine has been dispensed over 3.7 billion doses for human use, not just for animals. However, currently in the United States, any positive opinion on ivermectin will be silenced and any post about ivermectin on the major social medias will be censored. Even those licensed doctors and nurses who used ivermectin to treat their patients and save people’s lives have been warned, threaten, or even fired. There hasn’t been such a large scale of suppression of truth and persecution of doctors and scientists since the end of the Medieval Age. Any authoritative suppression and persecution on different opinions will only lead the world back to the Dark Age!

Currently, about 76% of Americans received at least one dose of vaccine, and 64% are fully vaccinated with double doses of vaccine. That means about one third of Americans are not fully vaccinated. Some people may want to force everyone to be vaccinated by banning ivermectin, but it won't happen. For these one third of Americans who are not fully vaccinated, it's better to provide them ivermectin for self protection than banning ivermectin for them to be infected. Here, we undersigned, call for the health regulatory organizations in the world to approve ivermectin for the prevention and treatment of COVID-19 and its new variants, either through Emergency Use Authorization or Compassionate Use Authorization. Or simply make ivermectin available over the counter like Tylenol since it has been approved for human usage for thirty five years without any serious adverse events.
