I lived in Echo Park and Venice Beach and saw how those cities were devoured by developers and are now over crowded and rents are unaffordable for the average person.

I understand that Council Members Mejia, Maloney and Maza know what is best for all of us ignorant folk who only pay attention to yard signs and slick flyers in the mail. The tide began to swing in 2018 and the fact that we now have a more informed and empowered group of concerned citizens we can let them know their archaic thinking is detrimental to our quality of life here.

More than 8,500 Alhambra residents expressed their desire to have election by district rather than election at large voting, an scheme that has been traditionally used by corrupt politicians to disenfranchise voters . People who signed this petition represent the will of the residents of Alhambra, so it seems almost unbelievable that 3 city Counsel members want to go against the will of thousands of residents in order to advance their obscure interests. Councilmen Mejia, Maloney and Maza (herein referred as the 3M's) believe that their interests and opinions are worth more than the interests of the residents of Alhambra. Well, that is not the case. I urge them to let the people of Alhambra decide on the November elections decide the can of elections that we want and not the one that is going to benefit their interests.
