The Old Chapel Inn tenant miss judged

I am reaching out to discuss The Old Chapel Inn in Smethwick, where I have had the pleasure of being a tenant for the last seven months. During this time, I have truly come to cherish both the pub and the surrounding community. When I first took over, the pub was in disrepair and struggled to attract customers. However, I have worked diligently to revitalize it, and I’m thrilled to see many locals, especially the elder members of the community, returning to enjoy a drink.
One particularly poignant moment for me was when a client chose to hold his wake at the pub. He had come to appreciate my welcoming service, and it meant a lot to both him and his family. They expressed their fondness for the pub, which made the day all the more emotional for everyone involved. Although he was given a short time to live, he has experienced a remarkable recovery and continues to visit regularly.
I have also made significant improvements to the back area of the pub, creating a space where children can come to play and relax. Given all the effort I have put into enhancing the pub and fostering a sense of community, I find it disheartening to receive a notice to vacate, especially when it stems from just five complaints from individuals who have never even visited the pub.
I believe these complaints may stem from a misunderstanding or prejudice, as the pub has historically had a negative reputation regarding race. However, since I took over, I have worked hard to ensure that everyone, regardless of their background and race, feels welcome. I am committed to continuing this mission and would like to remain as the tenant to keep the pub a vibrant and inclusive space for all.
