As an attendee of the church that started and supported this school and as a school board member I can attest that there never was any institutional racism while I was there from 1990-2005. In fact through the various programs and support of the community this church and school offered help to and educational opportunities for every member of this area. We had an extremely diverse church membership and student body. They were all treated the same.

I attended from age 2 until I graduated high school in 1988. I had many friends of many ethnicities throughout my time there. Only once do I recall a fight that broke out because of a racist remark by a kid. Later in life I became great friends with a man my age who attended Torrey Pines. I asked him if he dealt within any racial crap growing up in school. He laughed and said he was in a fight regularly, probably at least twice a week. I was shocked. I’m so glad I was able to attend a school where the staff did an amazing job to be all inclusive. As a father, I sent two of my kids there. One was expelled for saying he currently wasn’t walking with the Lord, nor did he want to at the time. Although, I wasn’t happy with the way my son was handled, while I attended school, my experience was very fair. After hearing of experiences from friends I made who had gone to different schools, I can only be thankful that I had the experience I did.

I am a graduate of TCCS and I have read the petition against the school which was full of accusations against other students not faculty.
Kids a cruel and if things aren’t brought up To faculty the students are left to deal with those situations alone. You can’t hold the school responsible for things that were never addressed at the time.
Stand firm in your morals and values and do not be brought Into taking sides. The only place to stand is firm in Jesus!
