They're each other's rocks. Whenever something bad happened to Derek, Stiles was there. Boyd's death - Stiles's j hand is on Derek's shoulder. Also, this pairing kind of gives me hope for myself, that if even after 4 (it's really 5) seasons, they're still single and yet when I come online I can read a thousand different ways of them coming together, cannonically or via and Alternate Universe. Whenever I'm upset, I read a fanfiction. Some are less than 1,000 words and others are lengthier than novels. It would be nice to see some people's hard work and least acknowledged (but used for Sterek purposes because Season 4 was riddled with tropes from the Sterek fandom and our fanfictions, yet none of it was used for Sterek). Please give this petition and part of the fandom the recognition it deserves.
