The original Jinx was the greatest music venue for just about any type of music, or human in Savannah. I know there staff will follow the original blueprint and add some extra to this new venue. Without the Jinx Savannah will be missing out on future musical artists to have a place to call home.

When I moved here in the early 90's there were few, if any, clubs that offered anything besides country music or techno. Then I found the jinx, It was the venue that I had always dreamed of opening myself. The artwork, the vibe, the music and the friendly people the worked there. It was home. I have been going there for 20+ years and have never had a bad time in there. I've seen young bands come to play for 20 people and give it their all, and to see the same kids down the road turn into national acts playing for 50k fans is an incredible feat for bands from Savannah, which without Suzanne and The Jinx would likely have not been possible without their support and opportunities that she gave them. The people I have met there either local or traveling have always held the Jinx in high regard. It's name is spoken far beyond our city borders, in other cities and other states. That kind of recognition is hard to come by. When I have been to shows out across the country and the musicians ask where I'm from, they immediately say the Jinx! What a fantastic place! And even though I have no investment but only great memories and friendships that have developed from this venue, I feel a great sense of pride when I hear its name. The Jinx has a long history in Savannah, one that will be in the history books, but this chapter is not finished. The ink is still wet and there is much more to be written.

The jinx has been a long standing institution of art and counterculture. It was a very important and vital part of our community for many years. Having them back after the pandemic changed the economic landscape would have a positive and meaningful impact.

The Jinx is a place that brings people together and allows people to be apart of the music scene. This expression and allowance for connection with others like you is so deeply important and what makes Savannah so special. With the jinx so many artists and others will be able to have so many more opportunities and experiences just simply because they’re able to host that environment.

As an avid supporter of The Jinx reopening in the Starland District of Savannah, I am signing this petition in lieu of my physical attendance to the City Council meeting on Thursday June 8th at 2pm due to having work at that time. If I were able to attend in person as a citizen of savannah to demonstrate my support of The Jinx I would absolutely do so, please take my signature on this petition in place of that, thank you.
