It is with great regret that I feel compelled to write to you concerning your production, “The Hobbit - The Desolation of Smaug”. I am a keen movie enthusiast, and have become increasingly disheartened by the quality of movies being pedalled at the general public. The film in question was quite honestly horrific, lacking any real substance, character engagement or intelligence. And its budget of $250,000,000 dollars was obviously spent on nothing but helicopter hire, for the sheer volume of sweeping visuals. We all know New Zealand is a beautiful country, so constant reminders of that fact to prevent the need for actual storytelling is unnecessary.

I could rant endlessly about the disappointing story, character development, dated CGI and overuse of green screen, bad acting, ridiculous action scenes and boring dialog, but I won’t. I will simply say that if you really want me to pull this film apart second by second, by all means send me a copy and I shall produce you a full report.

Otherwise please be aware that I have requested a full refund for my tickets from the cinema I visited, as I feel my time would have been better spent elsewhere. Another movie goer in my vicinity stated, “that was a joke”, and I am agreement. Movie executives like yourself obviously care nothing about the quality of your productions, but merely about how much money you can make.
