Keep the full basketball court. Demolish the rest of the ugly blacktop and give the kids some grass to play on. The space looks like a school in the middle of New York city.

Increased playground density can increase children’s sedentary time and decrease their physical activity levels during recess. Physical activity has been linked to better academic performance. Free time helps kids develop communication skills and strengthen self-control. They learn to cooperate, negotiate, share, solve problems and cope with stress. In the short and long terms, the Hardy kids will be well-served by adults ensuring proper playground areas for growing population.

Kindergarten's play experience this year should not be repeated. It was unacceptable how the PTO offered to buy sand tables and they were never provided. Our children literally drew in the dirt with sticks--having nothing to play with on the Lake St. side.

We live on Chandler St. Our 4 year old daughter is enrolling in Hardy in a year and a half. My family whole-heartedly supports EVERY component of this petition, and we intend to be highly vocal about our support.

With an incoming Kstudent, I have six years that concern me if recess is affected!
A plan needs to be in place right now as we are in the stage to enact change.

I have always been perplexed that Hardy, with the least amount of outdoor space, is being added onto versus redistricting to where we can accommodate students at Thompson or other schools. thanks for your work.

Hardy Elementary School is more constrained by space limitations than other schools so we have to be more creative and forward-thinking to help our kids have space to play and run. Adding classrooms without any consideration for the outdoor space kids need does not take good care of our kids.

As part of the plan, I would also like to express my concerns that the trees not be cut down to make play space available.
