This is part of what makes us special, and our new President should consider it a privilege to live in a home centered on the most beautiful campus. Any person in their right mind would jump to live on the "Happiest College Campus" in the nation.

Texas A&M is a truly unique environment, and our new president seems adept to represent the interest of this university and its students. Just as the U.S. president lives in the capital of our nation, where much of the important business occurs that affects the nation, so too should the president live at the center of the university he is representing. After all, from the outside looking in you can't understand it, and Texas A&M should not be run by a man who is not given the opportunity to understand its true beauty.

Why is this even an issue?! The President of Texas A&M University should live on campus. End of story.

Traditions should not be changed, especially here at Texas A&M.

In a school so steeped in tradition and the student experience, it's almost surprising that this needs to be petitioned

I believe that the President living on campus is more important to the students and the university than the potential benefits of the house's use for "fundraising and things like that."

The house is an ideal location for the president to act on university matters. Lets keep this tradition the way it is.

With recent changes and many more to come, it is vital to preserve tradition and a school for the students. Let's focus less on numbers and more on experiences.

The fact that the Board of Regents thinks that, by emptying the house of our University's president, they are "giving it back to us" means they are really just out of touch. They are trying to leverage whatever they can to just make more money. If the BoR is so worried about money, I'm sure I can find a whole other list of budget items that could be trimmed to make up for whatever we're missing.

When I was at Texas A&M, I always thought the President living on campus was symbolic of how TAMU was focused on the well being, and growth of every student. As a former student, I find it troubling that the Administration would abandon this symbolism, and admit that the house will now be used to house visiting donors, and hold fundraising events. The symbolic message sent by having an elegant house for donors, in the shadow of a massive stadium with $500 million plus in luxury boxes (also for big donors), makes you think the university isn’t focusing on assuring a life changing Aggie Experience for every student.
