The density of this structure and it's poor setback location is so unsafe for potential occupants and surrounding population. Traffic issues will be horrible. And it just looks so bad and incongruous to this area.

Very disappointed that the town council is even considering this. For affordable housing - you bet and I’m fine with it in this location! The proposed density in this location? Absolutely not. The traffic nightmare that will occur at this location with this development is a disaster waiting to happen. Anyone already living on the “bypass” streets is already faced with tons of traffic, speeding, reckless driving and the like because there seems to be a reluctance to put in any kind of three way stop signs or other measures (how about some traffic ticketing from time to time?) on side streets like Grissom and Palmer.
This doesn’t appear to take into account the new housing planned behind First and Main and the new Sheetz.
Does the town master plan have any meaning? I hope that the town will seriously look at this development and make a reasonable assessment.

Please honor the existing comprehensive plan zoning designation for the site, which was created in good faith with citizen input. Affordable housing on the site is fine, but any building on the site should respect existing zoning parameters and be compatible with the neighborhood.

So, a Sheets down the street and this project a few blocks away, you’re looking at a traffic nightmare. Why not just build a brick wall to close access to small businesses

Not a good plan. Poor location to size ratio, ugly clapboard architecture, and to many potential residents for so little parking. At the rate this over development is going Blacksburg will be consumed by hives of poorly maintained transient student ravaged rats' nests. And waiting for the reports of accidents with pedestrians and building involved. Poor plan. Whose pocket is getting lined on this monster?

This protect is not appropriate for the location proposed, nor for addressing affordability. More beds does not decrease market pricing.
