We, the undersigned, respectfully request that the City of McAlester officially recognize July 24 through July 27 as “Neely Factory Weekend.”

This recognition honors the lasting legacy of our grandfather, Neely Factory, a beloved member of the McAlester community and the roots of a powerful family story that continues to grow.

From July 24 to July 27, 2025, our family hosted a historic reunion in McAlester, bringing together over 200 family members from across the country. During this time, our presence was met with warmth, support, and love from local residents, businesses, and city officials.

Our goal is not only to honor our family’s legacy, but also to celebrate the power of unity, healing, and Black family heritage. The Factory Family Weekend represents togetherness, strength, and the importance of returning to your roots to remember where you come from.

We believe McAlester can be a leading example of preserving family tradition and local history by officially recognizing this weekend annually.
