The Sanitary Landfill (aka The Dump) problem on St. Maarten

This has been going on for years, but now its going on for days!!!! makes me wonder

its for a good cause

Let's collectively come up with an effective solution. It's time for change!!

This is an ongoing issue. Personally I feel like the people at power has the resources and ability to create solutions to this environmental hazards. I stand behind the notion of making this a priority because there is a outcry from the people of St Maarten. Come better than this man.

Get it fixed

I mean there shouldn't even be a petition for this type of matter because anyone with common sense can see this as a problem and should have been handled many years ago

As the fellow youths of St.Maarten Youth Parliament, we should speak against this current issue that is plaguing our country.

Something needs to be done asap. It's a major health issue.

It is very hazardous to the community's health

As a regular visitor to the island I fully support the residents in their desire to have this continuing problem resolved quickly.

This has got to Stop, we are in the 21st century, not the damn dark ages! Tourists and cruise ships are your only true industry, what will you do when they go somewhere cleaner? Recycling should be island wide!

This should have been dealt with a long time ago.

This is just another reason to have tourist travel to other islands and other countries. This is really getting out of hand....

I have been away from the island due to school and visit every opportunity I get. I was appalled to see how high Pond island landfill had become. It looks disgusting. I was recently in Sxm and was enjoying how clear and calm the water looked as we were able to see the surrounding islands. However as you turn the corner on the hill you get a glimpse of the disgusting smoke floating over the dump. I was very ashamed and could only imagine the thoughts of other visitors.

Disgusting - just got home from The Mullet Bay Area - could see the smoke at night settling and an awful odor - drove into town on Sunday and realized what that odor was. Something needs to be done
