It is disrespectful in the very least to ignore to traditions and culture that a child taken into "care" is from. It is abuse and should be stopped immediately.

I witnessed first hand the patronising, degrading, racist treatment by a lawyer working apparrentlly in the best interests of Gypsy children. He denied that Gypsies have a culture. The racism I witnessed was beyond unacceptable and I believe is not uncommon practise. The total denial of a person's cultural needs is a breach of the human rights act, yet this was never taken seriously by anyone outside the Gypsy and Traveller community.
