One of my favorite out-of-town players as a kid. When the Reds came into Philly in the early 60's, we knew we had to deal with Vada, Frank R., Jerry Lynch and gang. Pinson would quietly patrol centerfield and
covered ground smoothly and efficiently. One of the best of his era!

One of the great ones, Vada should have his number retired along with fellow McClymonds High School schoolmate Frank Robinson.

I'm a lifelong Red Sox fan dating back to the heartbreak years and their '75 WS loss to the Big Red machine. But more important, I'm a lifelong baseball fan with a great respect and attention paid to the game's greats. As a kid, I marveled at Vada's baseball card stats and the consistent excellence he achieved. I often wondered why this man with close to 3,000 hits and so many other accomplishments nevr seemed to get mentioned for the hall of Fame. He desrves that, as well as his number being retired. If a Red Sox fan thinks so, well, why don't the Reds?
