Karen had fun playing drums with her brother Richard and band The Carpenters;
and she was damn good; especially as the featured soloist "Lead Sister". But when her amazing Angelic voice was discovered she was pushed to the front of the spotlight. Before long she developed a negative perception of herself as being overweight which began to take control of her psyche; resulting in an eating disorder which threatened her health.
Despite these demons she became one of the most successful and beloved vocal artists of the 20th century. Sadly those demons overwhelmed her and the result was a gone-too-soon "Superstar" named Karen Carpenter; on February 4, 1983.

Her voice is still unmatched. She deserves this recognition for the way she touched so many lives. Still miss her so much.
