The parade was very boring I have been in the parade since in grammar school they would let us perform they kept rushing us. They had more politicians in the parade than drill teams and dance groups...they need to bring back south Shore drill team who cares about how many members they have. I say if u don't want to be out there for a long period of time then don't work for the parade the community love it.

I join the increasing number of voices imploring the Chicago Defender Charities to resend it's regressive changes to the historic venerable Bud Billiken Day parade.

We need to keep this going the people love the bud I been in it since I was 9 its a lot of fun

I Believe The Parade Is For The Kids Its The Where They Come Out And Enjoy There Self Before They Have To Go Back

The Chicago police department is responsible for these parade changes. They tried to reduct it when Col. Eugene Scott was running the parade but couldn't. Why? Because Scott would NOT let them bully him and he knew this parade is FOR THE CHILDREN, NOT THE COPS!!! The police told some people at 55th Street that they couldn't have a picnic!! OUTRAGEOUS!!! It's the Bud Billiken Day Parade & Picnic and it's been this way for 87-years. LEAVE OUR CHILDREN ALONE.

Our children need this.

The Parade was so bogus this year. My baby dance with one of the groups in the parade this year & after all there hard work they didn't allow them to perform. These kids dedicated there whole summer to putting on an awesome show for the crowd at the Bud & making other kids interested in joining the group. It all was taken from them. The parade spectators didn't want to see the kids just walking & waving they wanted to see some performances

This years parade was very rushed my family that came into town was very disappointed at the flow. This is why the come here every year and it was a waist of time this year. The police acted as if every spectator was a threat. This is suppose to be about sending our kids back to school the right way and it seems like they (the city) is trying to take another positive tradition away from the black community.

I believe that the Bud Billiken Parade is a positive factor in the African American community, promoting, and inspiring the love, and education of our youth, and I support the Bud Billiken Parade, in furthering, and continuing to uphold all of it's longstanding, illustrious traditions.
