We've started this petition for people in favor of locating our non-profit recovery home at 1514 Spring St. in New Albany Indiana. This area is a mix of residential and commercial properties. We see a need for this recovery home in Floyd and surrounding counties. The Breakaway would house approximately 20 women. A recovery home is a place for addicts and alcoholics to live, work and go through a program lasting 6-9 months to begin a clean, sober life. These women will be building a firm foundation as they make their way back into society as productive members. What we are proposing is a solution to the problem. I am the clinical manager of a local substance abuse treatment facility. My female clients are in desperate-DESPERATE-need of safe and sober housing. Everyone in our community benefits when rates of sobriety increase. Lack of housing is a huge factor for relapse.
Ryan, we have to get approval and then remodel it and then it will open It is only for women. If you need to begin recovery, we urge you to contact Healing Place in Louisville and understand it is the most successful program for me in the world Please call them!

My son died of a Heroin overdose in November 2015. There is a dire need for more beds in recover facilities in the immediate area, for both men and women. Some of these people want to quit using but the lack of openings prohibits this.
