As the Rare Books Librarian, and curator of the Small Press Poetry Collection here at the University of Sheffield, I believe it is of prime importance to preserve Lawrence Upton's archive and library. He has been a key figure in British poetry from the mid-twentienth century onwards. His correspondence alone would be invaluable to future scholarship. Please do not allow this collelction to be skipped.

I met Lawrence Upton in the mid 00s. In one brief conversation he opened my eyes and ears to a valuable way of thinking about poetry. At the time he also mentioned his archive of material by Cobbing and others. It is important that all this unique material is archived for future generations.

I serve as the digital preservationist of the Electronic Literature Organization and Director of the Electronic Literature Lab at Washington State University Vancouver. I met Lawrence in Sue Thomas's TEXTLab workshop in 2005 where we created fiction and poetry for online environments. I have followed Lawrence's work and would love to see his work saved for future writers and scholars. I would be happy to help by hosting his papers and documents and organizing them into a archive accessible to the public.
