If this comment is not posted, then the writers of this petition condone the same silence they claim to be criticizing.

I am a life member of ACNM since 1983. ACNM BOD is not empowering women to have healthy births or improving birth outcomes, which is the stated goal. Because of that, I would welcome the firing of every single member of the BOD, including Amy Levi and in particular Francie Likis, because they are all guilty of caving in to obstetric management of birth, rather than helping women have empowering births and supporting women and teaching women that birth works. The JMWH has a very low impact factor because the articles are irrelevant and sometimes involve very poor methodology and lack of logical premise, making them not even evidence based. The USA has some of the worst birth outcomes in the world and ACNM is contributing to this by not educating women as to what to eat preconception and conception and where to give birth. Our field, midwifery, is the simplest field because pregnancy is not a disease. All you have to do is feed women enough but not too much protein and micronutrients, and 999/1000 outcomes are great. Postpartum hemorrhage is the biggest killer of women. I first published my protocol that ELIMINATES all postpartum hemorrhage. But JMWH wants no part of it. No animal or mammal has postpartum hemorrhage. That means all postpartum hemorrhage is idiopathic. Yet, Francie Likis refuses to send any of my contributions out for peer review. I recommend the firing of Francis Likis today.

I wholeheartedly support the BOD and the staff at the ACNM national office ... yet, the way the firing of Elaine and Kate happened just doesn’t make sense. Why? And who agreed to this non-midwifery way of letting these colleagues go? And what possibly could have been so bad that it justified the short and long term negative repercussions of this action; the grants, the loss of respect among collaborators, the loss of trust from members. Why not have transitioned to a new plan with their assistance? They would not have undermined or sabotaged ACNM. It just doesn’t make sense.

I fully support an investigation/audit into these issues. Anything but transparency is divisive.

What do we have without transparency?

Transparency is vitally important to such a large organization. It should not be difficult to move forward with increasing diversity.
