We the student body of Alabama Agricultural and Mechanical University take this time to address the issue of: unsatisfactory food service on our campus. On the eighteenth of February, it was brought to our attention that West Dining Hall had received a 75 on a food service inspection. This was the lowest in our county for the week. West dining hall is the main dining hall on our campus. It may serve anywhere between 500-2000 people on a daily basis. The every price for the 21 meals of week package is $1,864.0 per semester. The students and many employees have been unsatisfied with the conditions of this cafeteria. Poor food quality, lack of work ethic, cleanliness and hospitality are a few major issues. I Jeremiah Johnson a employee of Aramark at Alabama A&M are personally dissatisfied with the working conditions in Knight Complex. Employees are often over-worked and underpaid. Many are not passionate about the job and can be lazy. Lack of order and miscommunication can cause tension in the workplace. Attitudes and tempers begin to arise. Low-wages are a big factor in the poor work ethic. With most employees making a little more than minimum wage, they often find themselves in financial hardships. I believe that the workers should be paid for the skill and maybe in turn, their work ethic will improve. We have many student testimonials and examples of our unsatisfactory experiences at the cafeteria that we are willing to share in a orderly manner. With the help of the CEO of Aramark, AAMU Aramark employees, the Food and Drug Administration, board of trustees, President and the Food Service Director of AAMU we'd like to find a resolution to the unacceptable conditions.

The momentum behind this effort reflects a clear consensus that our current dining standards are unsustainable for students and staff alike. We are approaching a significant milestone that will demonstrate the true scale of this demand for change. Please take a moment to forward this petition to others who have felt the impact of these conditions so we can sustain our pressure.

As a parent of a current student enrolled at AAMU, it saddens me that she says she just go to bed hungry because of the food. She is always having to eat off campus which is more money. A reimbursement should be offered to the parents paying for yhese meal plans.

It sounds like not much has changed in over 10 years. I was a student at AAMU from 2005-2009 and the work ethic, environment and food selection was poor then. Both the employees and the students deserve better, especially since sometimes this is the only food students can afford.

This is the reason I removed my child from the school. On 3 different occasions she was taking to the ER/ urgent care for food related illnesses . The meal plan is a waste of money. Horrible experience during her Freshman year.

What is the University’s immediate 48 hour plan for corrective measures and food safety and when will issues be addressed by the President to the student body and parents? Majorly concerned about number of cafe employee ratio to student body service count.

Having a cafeteria with 2/3 of the drink machines out of order at a time, limited hours, and flooded food return area is an honest shame. It is my hope that the kind of service Aramark provides to institutions like the University of Alabama, can be found one day at an HBCU.

The Cafeteria options at AAMU are unacceptable and have left numerous students sick after visiting. The dining options are non inclusive and if the students who lived on campus had a choice as to having a meal plan or not many would opt out.
