For the last 41 years Jeff Johnson has been the face of swimming in the Acton-Boxborough community. He has touched thousands of lives through his time as coach of the AB Town Swim Team, Head Coach of the Boys and Girls high school swim teams, and the owner and head coach of Patriot Swim Club.
For all of the time and dedication that Jeff showed our community, it is only fitting that the AB High School Pool be named for this tremendous man. Guidelines set forth by the Acton-Boxborough School Committee state that a minimum of three years must pass after retirement or death for a facility to be named after an individual.
This petition is intended to show the School Committee the extent of the support from the community in bypassing this three year wait. PLEASE, add your name (and maybe a note about your connection with Coach. i.e., swimmer/former swimmer, parent of a swimmer/former swimmer, community member, etc.) to show your support for renaming the pool the "Jeff Johnson Natatorium" and for bypassing the three year wait.
The countless lives that Coach has touched deserves recognition. We must never forget this great man and we must preserve his legacy within our community. Let's join together and get this done! #doitforcoach

I was a graduate of Acton Boxborough in 1977 although I didn't participate in swimming, but I think it would be a wonderful tribute to a coach that was so well loved.
Jeff was a friend to our family, a Coach to all three of our girls, an avid Boston sports fan and a gem of a human being. He will be missed; I can’t think of a better tribute to his decades of improving the swimmers of New England than by naming the pool in his honor.
I knew coach for 30 years as a swim coach, mentor, and friend. If I ever wanted to find him, I never needed to look further than that pool deck. It's only right that it bears his name in his passing.
For the past 3 years, I have raced against Jeff both in High school and Club swimming. Although being the opponent he taught professionalism to all athletes on the deck. His love for the sport is unmatched by anyone, and his dedication in trying to share that love with young athletes is truly admirable.
Jeff taught me in swimming lessons, coached me on swim team, and was my manager when I worked at the pool as a lifeguard, swim instructor, and coach. Please don’t wait three years to put his name on the pool—do it now!

My daughters both dwam under his guidance for the school teams and Patriots Swim Club. I have never known anyone who was more dedicated to teaching children morality, dedication, the meaning of hard work and teamsmanship.
