Dear Dr. Levine, This letter is written on behalf of the current students attending the USC Keck School of Medicine. It has come to our attention that you are considering, or have already decided, to leave your position as medical director of USC/Norris and to continue at the City of Hope Medical Center. While we do not presume to understand the complexity of the circumstances which led up to this decision, we understand that this must be a difficult crossroads. This letter is a way for us to show our support, in two ways. First of all, we would like to thank you for your dedication to your students. This letter is but a small addition to the decades of awards and commendations you have received, and like any other accolade, can pay paltry service to the magnitude of your impact. You have inspired an entire generation of medical students to value humanism as highly as academic excellence in their transformation into physicians, and as a result, have had a huge impact not only on your own patients, but on all of ours. We want you to know the depths of our appreciation for your service to us. Secondly, we wish to convey that we, the students, hope that you will continue to remain engaged in educational activities at this institution to the greatest extent possible. The quality of medical education at the USC Keck School of Medicine would significantly suffer without your contribution. We want this school to remain a home for you as a teacher, and we wish to support you in finding ways of continuing to shape the education of Keck medical students. This letter has been electronically signed. While the visual impact of a physically signed letter might have been more impressive, we decided that it was more important that those of us who are hard to track down have a chance to add their names and indicate their appreciation and their hopes for your continued connection to the Keck School of Medicine. We, the students you touch on a daily basis, thank you for being you. Sincerely, Your students in medicine and in life at the Keck-USC School of Medicine
