Nothing exists in a vacuum. Mensa has no opinions, but racism and bigotry are objectively wrong. Thank you for publicly acknowledging a fact that many people have forgotten, or perhaps never learned.

It is ridiculous that my human right to exist without harassment or fear due to the color of my skin is deemed a "political" issue.

Thank you for all of the work you do us! Also, thank you for taking this stand against bigotry and racism within our organization (which should be a real no-brainer for us to come together and declare.... but here we are).

It is vital that we affirmed the humanity of every person. This isn't a political or position statement. It is an affirmation of shared humanity, innate worth and dignity. While some do scoff with indignation, Mensa needs to follow up with affirmative steps to ensure members and guests are afforded this dignity during their Mensa experiences. We cannot blanketly tolerate misogynistic, racist, homophobic and xenophobic behaviors running unchallenged and unchecked. It reeks of tacit approval by our inactions. We have incredible intellectual gifts - certainly, we must do better by our members, especially our youth. Otherwise, we risk our Mensa affiliation becoming an albatross as the public associations are further linked to intolerance and inappropriateness.

Thanks for the courage to stand up for human rights and human decency, knowing the bullying that would likely follow.

I am glad that the AMC took a stand and affirmed the humanity of every person. This stance was the least they could do, and I hope to see similar affirmations in the future.
