AMC Chair LaRae Bakerink and First Vice Chair Lori Norris, along with the entire AMC, issued a "Statement on George Floyd and Racism". By publicly issuing a statement on this, they have made an effort to respond to unprecedented current events and to make Mensa a more welcoming environment for all members. We realize that being against racism is by no means a political stance.
If 250 signatures are gathered on this petition, I’ll send the AMC an actual handwritten Thank You note to personally express my gratitude. You should consider doing this, too.

I honestly did not think this would take off like it has when I first started typing it up on my laptop at home. Seeing all these people agreeing with the sentiment really makes my day because sometimes it feels like nobody actually cares about these things until it is way too late, which is just a wild thought to get stuck in my head.

Nothing exists in a vacuum. Mensa has no opinions, but racism and bigotry are objectively wrong. Thank you for publicly acknowledging a fact that many people have forgotten, or perhaps never learned.
Thank you, AMC, for reminding our members of what is in our existing bylaws. Affirming the humanity of all people is NOT a political position!
As a POC, I appreciate and applaud the AMC for their inclusive stand in these turbulent times. Having a family comprised of marginalized groups makes this even more valuable. Thank you!

It is ridiculous that my human right to exist without harassment or fear due to the color of my skin is deemed a "political" issue.
