This petition is being started in response to a recent Charles County Board of Education proposed change that a teacher living out of the county will soon have to pay tuition of up to $7,000 per year to allow their child to attend the school in which they are employed. This minor benefit is only one way that the Board of Education has valued to gain and keep great teachers. The teachers in this county have not had any raise in over three years. Teachers go above and beyond every day because of their love and passion of their job. Many hours outsides of the classroom (nights and weekends) away from their family ensuring that they are making a difference every day they walk into their school. Taking away this benefit would not only jeopardize the financial well being of Charles County teachers, but it would cost the community the best teachers when teachers need to leave the county because they can no longer bring their children to school with them.
