For those of you who participated in the poll on my Instagram, thank you. I made everyone aware of my intentions to go after the attendance finals and try to get the policy amended. The Instagram poll turned up that the majority of people are on board with changing policy so it allows a doctor's note to negate the absence. This was started after the TFSD sent out a PSA outlining the procedure if you begin to display symptoms of illness, all revolving around communicable diseases. The jist of it was that if you have any symptoms, stay home. However, if students miss more than 3 days of school, regardless of the reasoning behind the absences, we are required to take attendance finals. Students are basically being punished for: A) doing as the school district has specifically asked and B) actually taking the health of others as well as ourselves into consideration. I decided to end senior year with a bang so help me make it easier for future students. If you support the proposal to amend the attendance final policy to allow for a doctor's note to negate the absence on the final count, please sign the petition.

The district has remained silent while we keep showing up to class sick or fearing the consequences of staying home. I am still pushing the draft to the board despite their lack of acknowledgement. It is exhausting to fight for a policy that just encourages common sense health practices.

Attendance finals for students with all As are pointless and counting people being sick and medically excused absences towards attendance finals is stupid
I really agree with this petition. I would also include funeral absences, students are mourning, and then they are required to deal with more stress from attendance finals.
This is a great idea, I don't think that we can get rid of attendance finals altogether, but we can definitely negate absences if a doctor's note or court absence excuses them. I think it's stupid how the attendance policy works, and think we should work more like canyon ridge, I don't know completely about their attendance policy but I know they only have one extra day instead of two.
If the schools want the children to stay home if they are sick, then they shouldn't force attendance finals on those children.
It’s definitely absurd that they would request for our attendance even in our worst conditions. There’s not much else to say. Diseases are easily spreadable and yet people get penalized for essentially quarantining themselves for the safety of others. This is quite literally why we germaphobes.
Please fix it!!!

So many students come to school miserable because they feel like crap but can't miss anymore school.
