Demand Wine Freedom Comes to Texas

Texas law bans its citizens from receiving shipments of wine from out of state wine stores, Internet wine retailers, wine clubs and wine auction houses. It's a cynical law that only benefits special interests who want competition restricted.

Texas Representative Matt Rinaldi has introduced House Bill 2291. If passed if would lift the ban on Texas consumers receiving deliveries from out of state retailers. The result would be Texans having access to hundreds of thousands of wines not available in the state and bringing Wine Freedom to Texans.

Support HB 2291 and sign the petition asking Texas Legislature to bring Wine Freedom to Texas. Visit https://www.winefreedom.org/wine-freedom-for-texas for more information.

I fully support this bill. This will allow not only better access to many more wines, but also will increase competition and lower prices for wines benefiting all consumers in Texas

Please bring to this a vote and pass it. This has greatly impacted what I can by online and I don't see why wine has been singled out. Allowing basically 2 large distributors in this state to dictate what I can buy is not a free market and is very close to a monopoly, which is illegal. Thank you for bringing this up!

Thanks to Reps. Rinaldi and Meyer for introducing a great bill that will improve tremendously how Texas handles wine distribution. The bill is a win-win as it allows Texas citizens to receive direct shipping from package stores AND it requires package stores to pay all state taxes, thereby providing funding for our state.

I know many people that have wine shipped to Louisiana and drive it back to Texas. This will allow Texas to capture sales tax that is now not received.

Having just moved to Texas, one of the first things I realized is that Texans cherish their freedoms. Why wine consumers are not free to buy from whomever they want is a mystery. Lift the ban!

Texas wine drinkers and collectors implore you to allow shipping from out of state wine stores. Texas would gain sales tax revenue and collectors would not be stuck with what the distributors decide is profitable enough to distribute in spite of the demand from collectors.

Please pass this bill. There's no reason we shouldn't be able to ship wine from out of state to Texas.

I support House Bill 2291, giving Texans the freedom to acquire wine products that are not available through current retail stores or direct-to-consumer suppliers. A free market should always be the default option for our legislature and lawmakers.
