Texas Township Still Needs Help

People on the lake are about to lose their homes and possessions due to the inability of government to move faster than slowly rising waters. This is shameful.

Our home is on Treasure Island. Pumping is ongoing both indoors and out. Sandbags are in place. Water continues to rise, now reaching sandbags, saturating what little lakeside property is not yet underwater and slowly but relentlessly encroaching on either side of the house. When we drive into our neighborhood, water on either side of Pepper/Treasure Island seems perilously close to the road. Are we to lose our home or access to it? Please help us. Now. Dennis Nevala

Our home is under considerable threat from the continuing rise of lake waters. Despite incurring tens of thousands of $$$$ to secure the property, the water encroachment remains unabated. We have lost lawn, trees and shrubs. As the need for continuous pumping remains our electric bill each month is 50% higher. How much longer must we wait for a solution to be implemented??

Somebody needs to try to light a fire under this process

My lower level will be under water within a month.

As 31 year resident of Treasure Island, I am deeply concerned about the high water levels we are experiencing and the increasingly higher hurdles our township and local lake associations are having to scale to bring some resolution to this problem. I worry that before long, existing still active septic systems will begin to fail allowing leakage to impact the surface waters of our lakes, and that perhaps Kalamazoo sewer pumping stations will fail due to being submerged by lake surface waters. This will pollute the lakes and create a 600 acre (guestimate of the combined surface waters of Pine Island , Crooked, and Eagle Lakes which incidentally increases with every rain fall) …. OPEN SEWER! Not only will the residents be pumping water from behind their retaining walls and basements, but SEWER WATER. This is an EMERGENCY! Move the DEQ and other involved agencies to stop fiddling while the waters rise and to (temporarily at least) forget about the habitat of a potentially endangered rattle snake (which hasn't been confirmed to dwell in the downstream watershed) and define the meaning of `significantly impacted’ downstream residents. So that we can move on and …. START the Damn’ PUMPS!

We have been dealing with a rising lake level for over a year now. We paid $$$ for a seawall to protect our property and made it a foot higher than we originally planned. The water is now less than 5 inches from going over our seawall. We all need help now!

Please help our Lake!

Please help save our homes! Waiting until April to pump is going to put several of our homes in more severe danger that they are already in. The situation gets worse almost daily and the cost has been and will continue to be ungodly!

Please wake up and see this IS AN EMERGENCY. We live on Treasure Island Drive. If the pumping does not commence soon, there are Many home in danger. If this weee your home, or your siblings home or your parents home you would not hesitate to jump in and make something happen - pumping immediately. Treasure Island will be under water and we will not have access to our homes! THIS IS AN EMERGENCY. PLEASE HELP US

We should get the news involved. That seems to make things happen.

This actually could get dangerous. Then maybe (too late) will someone think it is an emergency.

This is a crisis situation and action must be taken.
