Bill Carson Member - Ellis County Tea Party Steering Committee Draft Louie Gohmert for the US Senate Whereas, the ruling class in Washington is shredding the Constitution and the fundamental principles of the Founders; and, Whereas, the ruling class in Washington has lost credibility with their constituency they were elected to represent; and, Whereas, the ruling class in Washington has evolved into a group of career politicians who only first seek to maintain their power and second to follow the will of “We the People” who sent them there; and, Whereas, our sitting senior Senator John Cornyn has shown himself to be out of touch with the voice of the People of Texas; and, Whereas, Senator Cornyn refuses to stand up for the Constitution, or against the outrageous travesties of the Obama administration; and, Whereas, Senator Cornyn is up for reelection in March 2014 and Texans seek a Constitutional candidate to challenge him, one that is well respected and stalwart in restoring and preserving the principles that “We the People” hold dear; and, Whereas, Texas being a colossal state, however with the financial burden to successfully run a state-wide campaign just as huge, we need a candidate who can draw the necessary support to hand; therefore, Be it resolved, Texas requires a statesman to step up to the challenge, one not afraid of the Washington Establishment and the leadership of the Republican Party; one that is passionate for the sacred ideals of the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights, and undaunted in representing the will of the People of the great State of Texas; and, Be it further resolved, we call on U.S. House of Representatives Texas District 1 Congressman Louie Gohmert to be that candidate for the U.S Senate seat currently held by John Cornyn but that belongs to the State of Texas and in turn to the People of Texas. We pray that he accepts this call and upon doing so that God grant him strength and wisdom in this great endeavor. Louis Gohmert is a native son of Texas, serving in the House of Representatives since 2005, a graduate of Texas A&M and Baylor Law schools, and serving in the US Army Judge Advocate Judge’s Corps before returning to civilian life. His first elected post was a state district judge serving Texas's 7th Judicial District before being appointed by Texas Governor Rick Perry to fill a vacancy as Chief Justice on Texas's 12th Court of Appeals until 2003.
