We the undersign, affecting 900-1,000 persons, being the 24/7 elderly residents, staff, and all persons involved with the Scarborough Mon Sheong Long Term Care Facility (SMSLTC) and Scarborough Mon Sheong Court (SMSC) including the Mon Sheong Foundation are all opposed to the proposed TTC Bus Garage on the adjacent McNicoll Ave. Site.

Another site should be found for this facility because of the following valid reasons:

• Initially, there was not due diligence carried out by TTC to search for the optimum

site for their bus garage, taking into account the contextual compatibility of the surrounding uses. This site was chosen in spite of the incompatibility of this proposed heavy industrial TTC garage use in close proximity to the surrounding soft health care and community uses.

• The TPAP process followed by TTC has not been done with real consultation with all of the affected community organizations, specifically ours which is the closest and is most directly affected by the proposed TTC garage. Community consultation before and after this site selection has essentially been ignored. In fact, TTC has not been forthcoming in the release of public documents substantiating their reported environmental findings and conclusions.

• The environmental impact of the bus operations although mentioned in the TTC report of May 14.14 is superficially addressed and flawed as revealed by our independent air quality, sound and traffic consultants. The air pollution and noise/vibration of the TTC operations of the 250 continuously circulation of buses 24/7 in and around this site will adversely affect our elderly residents sensitive respiratory and sleeping needs.

• the proposed Red lea Ave. adjacent to SL TC east facade will funnel all these buses and TTC car employees to and from this TTC garage nearer to our facility and increase the traffic volume in an already congested intersection of Kennedy Ave. and McNicoll Ave. and surrounding streets. Conflict amongst buses/cars and pedestrians will be increased, especially with the Baptist Church congregation to the north.

• Lastly, with the existing CNR/GO rail line to the east of the proposed TTC site, there is the potential for a significant explosion should there be an accident with the train(s) and the TTC garage. The current design has the Re-fueling station of diesel gas for the buses adjacent to this rail line. This could be catastrophic for our residents/staff at the SMSL TC and adjacent SMSC facilities. This risk mitigation concern has not been addressed adequately by TTC although repeated request
