Do you ever wonder if the Board Members of your figure skating club know, understand and follow your club bylaws, U.S. Figure Skating bylaws and rules and the Not-For-Profit Corporations Laws of your state?

• Did you know U.S. Figure Skating required each Club Board Member to sign a contract stating that they agree to know, understand and abide by all the above rules? 
  
• Individually, and as a group, members of a nonprofit (501c3) Board of Directors are legally and morally responsible for the activities organization.                                                            (see U.S.F.S. Did you know that as a member you have a right to attend the board meetings of your club and/or review the minutes of all meetings?                  

• The Board Members are elected to represent the interests of the entire membership, but often make decisions based on what is best for themselves and their children instead of the entire membership.
  

U.S. Figure Skating requires testing and certification of its registered Coaches, Judges and Officials, as well as the completion of continuing education requirements. However, none of this is required of the Board of Directors of Member Clubs.

Please sign this petition if you agree that;

U.S. Figure Skating should require basic knowledge testing of the bylaws and rules for all Board Members elected to represent member clubs.
