Homeowners Against Orlando Motor Sports Petition
There is a current proposal to build a motor speedway park, Orlando Motorsports Park, on the vacant 217 acres of land at the southwest corner of U.S. 192 and SR 429 in Kissimmee, FL. The attraction would include retail space, a go-cart track, a “fun” driving track and a private “members only” track. The land is currently zoned for tourist development, however, the sound that would be generated from such an attraction is significantly over the allowed limit. The current allowed limit is 55 decibels (dB) during the day and 45 dB after dusk. A noise variance has been submitted from the developer to allow for up to a maximum of 90 dB from 9:00am until 10pm at night. That is a much, much louder noise during the day and in the evening when people are enjoying the amenities of family time. This attraction would be built very close to people’s backyards and significantly impact the enjoyment of their property with the constant roar of high performance vehicles. Please support this petition to keep Orlando Motorsports Park out of the backyards of several thousand residents that would be impacted by this proposal.
We are residents/property owners/stakeholders that are opposed to the proposed motor speedway development project and application for a noise variance (NVR17-0002) more particularly described as follows:
