We the undersigned add our names to the community of voices in San Francisco, the Bay Area and across the country condemning the San Francisco Police Department's (SFPD) unnecessary and tragic killing of Alex Nieto in March 2014.
We declare our outrage at justice denied by the federal jury verdict finding that SFPD officers did not use excessive force when they shot and killed Alex Nieto.
We declare that the SFPD's murder of Alex Nieto and SFPD's impunity is part of a pattern of SF police officer killings of people of color under dubious circumstances and with impunity including, most recently, the SFPD’s murder of Mario Woods on December 2, 2015.
We demand immediate action by San Francisco Mayor Edwin Lee to hold accountable the SFPD, SF Police Chief Greg Suhr, and all officers who shot and killed Alex Nieto. Further, we demand a Federal Department of Justice Office of Civil Rights investigation into SFPD's racially discriminatory and criminal practices.

The silence from the mayor's office remains heavy but it does not mean we are stopping. I am exhausted from the constant uphill climb of seeking accountability for Alex and Mario yet I refuse to let this fade into the background.

When will the killings stop? My heart goes out to the family.
Justice for Alex! SFPD needs to answer for what happened.

Ridiculous verdict. They shot him for basically walking down the street. Im sick of this city acting like this is okay.
