Tennis in our community has become a true unification tool. To develop a strong unified community we need ties to bring us together. Several Adults, Junior’s and Children have truly benifitted from having a resident certified Tennis Pro living and teaching in our community. We have currently over 52 % of our community taking lessons here and very angry that our Tennis Program has stopped. This Tennis Program has given our adults a great form of exercise and community building. Our children have gained confidence, respect and trust along with exercise in our world of ever rising obesity in our youth population. Recently an addendum was very inconspicuously added to our by laws stopping our Tennis Program.  Mr. Melin was not contacted at all to discuss any issues or concerns of the HOA. Instead he received the addendum to the bylaws that no one in the community was aware of and next a letter from the attorney representing the HOA demanding him to stop lessons because he is in violation of the bylaws.  The reason for this was the threat of liability placed on the homeowners associations. This could simply be resolved by having a separate liability policy written for each HOA in addition to the current policy covering the instructor. This is an expense that Charles Melin is willing to be 100% responsible for. We as residents of Brighton Bay have the right to choose what will and what will not be allowed.
