In the typical service, when the work of atonement was performed by the high priest in the most holy place of the earthly sanctuary, the people were required to afflict their souls before God, and confess their sins, that they might be atoned for and blotted out. Will any less be required of us in this antitypical day of atonement, when Christ in the Sanctuary above is pleading in behalf of his people, and the final, irrevocable decision is to be pronounced upon every case" {RH, March 22, 1887 par. 9} There are some who want to justify eating the clean meats of Lev. 11: But are the fast food resturants and finer resturants preparing the popular meats like hamburgers, stakes, roast, chicken, turkey etc.,free from all blood and fat Are you yourself preparing these dead animals free of all fat and blood I do not think so. And if you are they are probably tasteless. Dead animails were never meant to be a permanent food source for humans. "We are living in critical times. Disease of every stripe and type is afflicting the human family, and it is largely the result of subsisting upon the diseased flesh of dead animals. Some who have had the consequences of a meat diet set before them do not change. Why Because they have educated their taste to enjoy the flesh of dead animals, and that taste must be indulged at any cost. And instead of preparing the meat in the least objectionable way, many choose the way that is most objectionable. The meat is served reeking with fat, because it suits the perverted taste. Both the blood and the fat of animals are consumed as a luxury. But the Lord gave special directions that these should not be eaten. Why Because their use would make a diseased current of blood in the human system. The disregard of the Lord's special directions has brought a variety of difficulties and diseases upon human beings." {7MR 423.2} Also there is new testament evidence that the apostles did not eat clean flesh foods with the blood. Act 15:29 That ye abstain from meats offered to idols, and from blood, and from things strangled, and from fornication: from which if ye keep yourselves, ye shall do well. Fare ye well." Romans 14:21 It is good neither to eat flesh, nor to drink wine, nor any thing whereby thy brother stumbleth, or is offended, or is made weak. Acts 21 is another text that says to refrain from eating blood. Act 21:25 As touching the Gentiles which believe, we have written and concluded that they observe no such thing, save only that they keep themselves from things offered to idols, and from blood, and from strangled, and from fornication. "It shall be a perpetual statute for your generations throughout all your dwellings, that ye eat neither fat nor blood" (Leviticus 3:17). Gen 9:4 But flesh with the life thereof, which is the blood thereof, shall ye not eat.Gen 9:5 And surely your blood of your lives will I require; at the hand of every beast will I require it... Isa 22:12 And in that day did the Lord GOD of hosts call to weeping, and to mourning, and to baldness, and to girding with sackcloth: Isa 22:13 And behold joy and gladness, slaying oxen, and killing sheep, eating flesh, and drinking wine: let us eat and drink; for to morrow we shall die.Isa 22:14 And it was revealed in mine ears by the LORD of hosts, Surely this iniquity shall not be purged from you till ye die, saith the Lord GOD of hosts.(notice this is talking about the clean meats/flresh food.) The Bible says, “Beloved I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers. 3rd John verse 2. “Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own “For you were bought at a price, (His own dear Life for you) therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s” 1st Corinthians 6:19.20. "Whether therefore you eat, or drink, or whatsoever you do, do all to the glory of God." 1 st Corinthians 10:31. God's original diet for humanity was exclusively plant based foods. Gen 1:29 And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.(This included vegetables, fruits, seeds, nuts, grains, and herbs.) God only allowed clean flesh foods to be eaten only after the Flood of Noah's day because all vegetation was destroyed. And God gave specific instruction in Lev.11, what flesh foods were clean and unclean. And that all blood and fat would have to be removed from the clean flesh foods. It was to be boiled and only meant as a temporary source of food. Ellen White,Counsels on Diet and Foods p. 373. "God saw that the ways of man were corrupt, ...And He permitted that long-lived race to eat animal food to shorten their sinful lives. Soon after the flood the race began to rapidly decrease in size, and in length of years." “...The Lord will bring His people into a position where they will not touch or taste the flesh of dead animals. Again, I refer to the diet question: we cannot now do as we have ventured to do in the past in regard to meat eating. It has always been a curse to the human family, but now it is particularly so in the curse which God has pronounced upon the herds of the field, because of man’s transgression and sin.” Kress Collection 32-3. ************************************************* Here is an open copy of the Petition/Pledge Letter addressed to SDA G.C. Pesident Jan Paulsen and to the Attention of Elders/G.C.Leaders Randal Wisbey, Ricardo Graham,and Don Schneider Dear and Respected President of the General Conference of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, Elder Jan Paulsen, You don't know us, but we are loyal and active members of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church. We are aware of and appreciate your attitude towards and activities to support the Health Ministries of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church. As a group, we have a growing concern about the "signs of the times" that are rapidly fulfilling around us and that seem to be pointing to the possibility of a soon return of our Blessed Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. We are also aware that there was a time between 1888 and 1901 when the door to the 2nd Coming of Christ was open. That "door" to the outpouring of the Holy Spirit in Latter Rain Power was "closed and bolted" in 1901 (according to a letter from E.G. White to J.H. Kellogg, read at the 1990 GC Session by Elder Geoge Rice, from the White Estate, at the request of then GC-President Elder Neal Wilson). Subsequent to 1901, God gave Sr. E.G. White a message to the then President Elder A.G. Daniels to "sign and circulate" a Temperance Anti-Meat Pledge. God said, through His messenger, "let the good work begin in Washington." Elder Daniels asked Sr. White if it wouldn't be a good idea to "educate" the people first and she gave her assent to that. For personal and other reasons, Elder Daniels chose to "shelve" and postpone the following of this mandate from God, nor was there ever an organized plan followed to "educate the people" to the end of acknowledging the need for such a pledge. In our concern for the future of our SDA Church and from our love and respect for the Office of the President of the SDA Church, we, the undersigned, are asking that you, Elder and GC President Jan Paulsen, please look into this matter again. We believe that much of the damage done to God's 1888-1901 Plan for His SDA Church could be undone by following God's Counsel to the Office of the President of the SDA Church. You are the leader of God's End-time SDA Church in what is turning out to be a very critical time for the SDA Church, the United States of America, and the World at large. Doesn't it seem to you, dear and beloved President Paulsen, that God may have brought you into this position "for just such a time as this" as He did Queen Esther You are our "World Church Leader/Pastor," please look into this and lead us, if that is what the Lord is indicating. Thank you for your time and concern. We believe that the World SDA Church is waiting for a demonstration from our World GC Headquarters in Washington, D.C. of a willingness to follow ALL the Counsel of the Lord. We believe that the Temperance Anti Meat-eating Pledge in not meant to be a "test of Faith" for membership in the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, nor is it meant as a contribution to our Salvation. We believe that Salvation is to be found for all humanity in the Infinite Sacrifice of Jesus Christ alone, and that there is nothing we can do to "buy" that Free Gift by any "works" of our own. We can only accept the "Gift of Salvation." Our signature on a Temperance Anti-Fleshfood Pledge would be to simply indicate the seriousness of our willingness to cooperate body, mind and soul with God in His Plan to use us for the good of humanity and especially for the Honour and Glory of His Holy Name. We do not consider it a "work" to buy or bribe God to "save" us. We would like you to know that we are willing and ready to follow your example in this, but we don’t want to "run ahead" of you or the guidance that is coming from God to us through the Office of the President of the General Conference of Seventh-Day Adventists.
