We are writing this letter to express our concern over media coverage of the President-Elect and to inform you that we, as viewers, readers and listeners, support only thorough, objective and investigative journalism. We are disturbed by what we are already seeing as normalization of his UN-American behavior.

The President-Elect’s multiple business conflicts of interest are not normal. His refusal to hear daily Intelligence briefings is not normal. His reckless lying is not normal. Accepting his lack of experience and his basic knowledge of how our government functions is not normal.

When the top public servant in our country denies access to the press it is not normal. It is unprecedented, unfounded and unacceptable. Threatening and berating the press is not normal, unless one is trying to build an autocracy or capitalize on corruption.

This is not a normal President-Elect and he does not play by the rules. The media needs to throw out the playbook and not be fooled into giving credence to an insane conspiracy theory or lie. Even by debunking it, it is given legitimacy. Every outrageous claim is intended to be a distraction from major issues, like his business dealings. He wants you to go after the drippings and miss the meat. Do not fall for it! This man is a master manipulator and is about to turn our country into a reality show. Stop playing nice.

We, the citizens of the United States, count on the fourth estate to keep power in check. It is the media’s patriotic duty to remain firm. Do not back down. Do not fear denial of access. Lack of access is far better than allowing the President-Elect to control the message. Raise the bar high to befit the Leader of the Free World, question and challenge him every time he does not reach that bar.

Remember that the majority of Americans did not vote for President-Elect Trump. We are your bottom line. We will support objective, investigative journalism only. As long as you provide it, we have got your back.

Your job is now more important than ever.

The silence from the major networks is honestly deafening while these headlines just keep getting more surreal by the hour. I have been reading your comments and it is clear that many people feel like they are watching a car crash happen in slow motion because nobody in the news room seems willing to actually step on the brakes.

I really thought this might just float into the void but looking at how many people are actually finding this page and feeling the same frustration I feel is honestly making my head spin a little bit (in a good way). It feels like everyone is finally waking up to the fact that we cannot just sit back while the headlines get weirder and more dangerous by the hour.

Please stop giving him free publicity for his business ventures, chasing him over every ridiculous tweet he makes to distract from his conflicts of interest and constitutional assaults. I know his outrageous antics bring sales and ratings, but they also normalize the behaviour and the rhetoric that drown out the rational voices. Any one of his hideous acts and inflammatory statements would have disqualified him from office years ago.

The media needs to take their fair share of the responsibility for the situation our nation is now facing. You need to do your jobs (finally) and stand up to all of these issues. Our nation stands at a volatile crossroads, with many international threats and a toddler in charge (I am being very generous here, my grandchildren are toddlers and much more informed and well behaved). We have too much at stake to back down from all these issues. We expect answers and for the press to hold the incoming administration accountable rather than wilting at the first sign of a nasty tweet from the donald.

Opinion is not equal to facts - the willful ignorance has to end and the false equivalencies that allow it to fester. #truthfulnotneutral

My friends and family are looking for trustworthy, unbiased, deep, accurate news reporting and will not watch infotainment anymore. No arguing pundits. No more!

Watergate/Washington Post opened everyone's eyes to what Americans took for granted. This election cycle was like watching a 12-18 month mini series. It's called The morning of 11/9. The news and media need to focus on the facts instead of the ratings or sales. If not, we will become an America with one newspaper and one tv channel.

We must expose authoritarianism, illegality, fraud, deception, cronyism, self-dealing, and incompetence by the Trump administration. Our democracy is in the greatest peril it has seen since the Civil War. A vigorous, principled, and free press is essential.

Stop covering him every time he opens an envelope or drops a paper clip!! Stop hanging out in Trump Tower waiting for some random tidbit. Neither I nor many of my friends are interested in watching mainstream media news on tv anymore, ever since this election run began it has become a nonstop circus...you all in the media should take a step back and see how ridiculous you look as you give constant attention to his absurd behaviors...you fall right into the puppetmaster's trap and look like his promotors...
