The Town of Hempstead is vetting political appointees to fill three seats on the South Nassau County Water Authority board. The last time it reconstituted a water authority, it appointed commissioners intent on dissolving itself, axing all efforts to provide its residents with affordable public water. The Nassau County Legislature is similarly appointing two members to the new authority.

Sign the Petition to Tell Hempstead Supervisor Clavin and Nassau County Presiding Officer Nicolello to open the screening process to the public and seek knowledgeable, independent, civic-minded, and non-partisan commissioners with diverse financial, municipal, environmental and legal experience to the Authority so that municipalization can be achieved in an effective, efficient and expeditious manner.

The South Nassau County Water Authority and North Shore Water Authority Acts require that the water authorities appoint its boards by February 1, 2022.
