Tell the City You've Had Enough With Bike Lane Congestion in Toronto

This bike lane footloose has gotten out of control and must be stopped.

Not necessary..they are always empty!!!

This is not California!!!!!

I myself am a cyclist however feel that some major roads do not need bicycle lanes. I do not believe every road needs a seperate lane for bikes especially when they take out existing parking where businesses are affected.

What a mess the Danforth has become. Congested 24 hours a day

I live along a road that has wide bike lanes alongside streetcar tracks. There is zero room for vehicles to move over to allow emergency vehicles to pass, and we frequently see EMS and Fire stuck behind streetcars that are causing long traffic queues. This congestion happens daily and the day will come when someone will lose their life because emergency services can’t reach them in time. The dogma and misinformation around bike lanes must stop. We need thoughtfulness and transparency when planning new bike lanes. BTW. I ride a bike almost daily, so I am not anti bike.

Stop the traffic grid deconstruction

Bike lanes do not belong on Toronto’s major arteries. Making people fight traffic so they are so late and frustrated they stop driving, is not the solution. Some of us need to drive for work and cannot do our job without a car. Are our businesses (middle class businesses) meant to suffer until we go under? Toronto is crushing its middle class.

Keep Toronto moving!

In addition to bike lanes, let’s rethink the patios that block traffic.

These cycle lanes are confusing and therefore extremely dangerous in addition to causing congestion that affects Canadian Productivity that is already lagging.

why put tables and chairs in a traffic lane

Hi. I work in Bloor Islington place building right opposite Islington subway station. This is one of busiest streets and takes forever get in and get out of buildings with pedestrian crossings round the clock and 2 lanes full with cars and trucks. Now the city made it worse with reducing 2 lanes to 1 lane from Kipling Avenue all the way to Royal York. This is effecting commute time majorly and those cyclist lanes hardly are being used. This is sheer of waste of money and ignoring the people needs who are part of commercial buildings in surroundings. I just want city of toronto to either solve the traffic issue which was pre existing not to make it 1000 times worse.

The bike lanes have resulted in significant traffic disruption. And this may lead to driver frustration Please stop removing car lanes and consider other options for bike lanes such as widening sidewalks ,

Bike lanes were a nice experiment, but it has been a failure. Convert the bike lanes back to vehicle lanes that will reduce the terrible road congestion!

I have written three letters , one to my local councillor t and two to Mayor Chow regarding the congestion and unsightly appearance of Bloor St between Islington and Bloor Village. I received a standard response from a represenattive from my councillor but so far Mayor chow has not replied. So amny people are inconvenienced when the bike lanes are relatively used... especially between Islington and Jane.

I encourage healthy living but the amount of traffic these bike lanes have been causing have been getting out of hand cyclist are cutting off drivers or driving on lanes they shouldn't be in

Bloor West bike lane is a complete disaster. July 13th 2024, at about 10am on a beautiful day, I counted 3 bike users (both ways), between Kipling and Jane. The car congestion was a mess, and the TTC buses are similarly impacted by the congestion. This installation along Bloor West is surely one of the dumbest projects of 2023/2024

I am opposed to expanding the bike lanes on major streets in Toronto. I have visited many countries abroad who have bike lanes. I appreciate that Toronto wants to do the same. However, we do not have a climate that is conducive to bike lanes. In winter and rainy seasons cycling is close to impossible. Cycling to work in these conditions is not possible. I witness mostly Ubereats deliveries on the bike paths. Limiting our roads to one lane has caused traffic congestion. Businesses along these streets have lost income and customers. The city offices and businesses need deliveries to be on time but with traffic and only one lane this impacts the Toronto economy. It is time to look at this logicallly and rationally not with one mission in sight. Look at the whole picture. Our beautiful city of Toronto is deteriorating.

City is at a standstill due to implementation of ill considered bike lanes on major arterial streets. No wonder productivity rates are at an all time low!
