Tell the Board of Ed You Support Ralph Mayo for Superintendent
On January 18th, the Greenwich Board of Education voted 7-1 to hire a superintendent from outside the district despite overwhelming support from the community for Interim Superintendent Ralph Mayo. Mr. Mayo is a 41-year veteran of Greenwich Schools and has proven himself to be an extraordinary leader, educator and administrator. With the revolving door of superintendents over the past 20 years, what Greenwich needs right now is a dedicated leader who is not only passionate about education, but also has deep-rooted knowledge, relationships and a strong grasp of the complexities of the district. No other candidate has the combination of qualifications that Mr. Mayo possesses.
Widely supported by the community, Ralph Mayo was the obvious choice, and actively sought out the position. Ultimately it fell on deaf ears. As elected officials, the Board of Education must better represent and be accountable to the Greenwich community. Please sign this petition to let the Board of Education know that you are dissatisfied with the decision they made and disappointed that they did not offer Ralph Mayo the permanent position.
