Tell Ministry of Defence to Take Colchester Middlewick ranges off the for sale list

There is enough housing in this area that causes traffic problems already and not enough infrastructure ie . Schools ,doctors surgeries etc.

A beautiful green space that we need to keep.

There is simply not the infrastructure to support this - the local schools, Doctors Surgery’s, hospital are already at bursting point. Not to mention the fact that there will be about another 1500 cars on the already clogged & busy Mersea Road. Middlewick Ranges has not been touched for a few hundred years, therefore making it a significantly special area for wildlife habitats, flora & fauna. A country park would be a much better use of this beautiful area. If Highwoods country park could be replicated at Middlewick, then this would such an amazing place . Please - no housing on the Wick!

Building on Middlewick Ranges contradicts the National Planning Policy Framework provision on Preserving and Enhancing the Natural Environment. It is a site that has a range of different habitats and support a large amount of different species many of which are protected or rare. There is no way the destruction of the Wick, or significant parts thereof, could be ecologically mitigated to achieve a "net gain" in biodiversity as specified in national planning policy. Hence it should not be built on but preserved as a nature reserve and/or country park.

This area needs to be green soace there is so much wildlife there and Colchester is already totally overrun with housing

We need to keep some green space for the physical and mental health of everyone !

Yes take middlewick ranges off the plan. This area is used by the community every day & we need this land. It has soo much to protect animals & history. There is no infrastructure to support this development we don’t want it so please listen to local people. The wick could be a haven for wildlife and we should be encouraging animals to dwell here as well as the many species worthy of protection who live there. There is a climate emergency called yet you want to destroy a vital part of Colchester it’s not acceptable.

This is totally the wrong place to build ANY houses, take Middlewick Ranges off any present or future building proposals.

As a native borne in Colchester and now living in New York, I totally oppose the building on Middlewick Ranges, is should be preserved at a nature reserve.

There are a lot of animal species that will be threatened from the project. Please reconsider selling or the use of it!

It needs to be a nature reserve, there's so much wildlife there and the infrastructure can't cope with more homes here.

There is no infrastructure in place to cope with the traffic that these homes will create. The area is already massively congested, especially in rush hour. Traffic regularly queues down Abbots rd as far as Mountbatton Drive at peak times.

This is an unusual piece of land in that it suports much wildlife in an otherwise built up area Apart from the destruction to this natural habitat it is an area unsuitable for more cars

We don't need more developments in Colchester on our open green spaces!

We don't need anymore green spaces being built on, Colchester is too big already and we don't have the infrastructure to cope with it all.

We need to preserve all the green space we can!

The wick needs to be left alone,for all the wildlife that has been there for years, and also for our benefit to have clean air and open spaces, not pollution and concrete.
