XXX Tell Gov Walz in MN that Fitness Boutiques don't belong in the category with health clubs, gyms and cinemas

While I am very concerned about opening too soon, I’m also concerned about the livelihood of my small boutique pilates studio. Mine has shown me that they take safety very seriously, and has implemented multiple safety and mitigation protocols. This is far different from my daughter’s large big box gym, to which she will not return at all this calendar year. Please help support our boutique studios that are doing everything they can to stay safe and to open up!

I work at a small boutique and only do by appointment one on one personal training. I think with a mask and following other required guidelines that we should be allowed to re-open.

Open up our economy!

I am a private, one person trainer who also is a doctorate level physical therapist. I am well qualified to work safely with my clients!

I am the owner of Bodiology Pilates, a very small Pilates studio. I am the sole trainer, I work one-on-one by appointment only and lead very small classes with no more than 5 students all very easily socially distanced. Wearing masks will be a requirement and I clean my studio and equipment between each session. I strongly believe that my studio should be able to open on June 1st! I am not a big gym! I will lose my business if I can not open. As far as fitness studios, one size does not fit all!

I taught Pilates at one of the premier Pilates / Physical Therapy studios in the West Metro area (Wayzata,Mn) for the past 6+ years. This is a private family owned business and we have always taken safety of our clients and staff very seriously. Our owners worked tirelessly to research, and take the steps necessary to make adjustments to the space in the studio to accommodate the utmost safety. They have written and communicated strict guidelines to all our clients as we prepare to hopefully re-open. (Masks, physical distancing, strict sanitizing procedures, adequate airflow, decreased density, appointment only sessions, small classes, and so much more). Each client can decide if they feel safe to return and most of them do based on what we have communicated. I strongly believe we provide a safer environment than any hair, nail salon or tatoo parlor can possibly ever offer. And to lump us in with large gyms/fitness centers is simply not appropriate. I worked in the medical device industry for 20 years before entering the profession of Pilates training as a semi-retirement career. Helping people live a more pain free life has been the most rewarding career of my life. We are certainly not a gym environment. We also fill a unique gap for many people that allows them return to a more normal painfree life after surgery, and/or after traditional physical therapy after injury. This makes us unique and I believe a much needed “personal service” vs being categorized as a gym or fitness center. Thank you for your consideration of this petition. Many people’s wellness depends on small studios like ours.

I have been saying this since the beginning of this whole thing. You simply cannot toss studios like BFL into the same category as a gym and let people have tattoos, haircuts and manicures where there is more physical contact and absolutely no health benefit to the consumer.

I work in one of these small studios. This is not about money this is about my freedom to work, thrive and provide for myself and family.

I need to get my health back. I am older and need pilates. This facility is not a gym.

I support this petition totally. Please consider carving out an exception for small boutique fitness organizations. These are not clubs!
