Small gyms should not be in the same category as the big box gyms in the metro area. These small gyms are by appointment only, typically already have fewer than 10 people present at one time and are using cleaning guidelines that are stricter than the CDC recommendations. Let them open

I have been a strong supporter of Gov. Walz until this most recent phase. Prior to May 18, and now June 1, we had rearranged our equipment to be 8' feet apart, have temperature monitors, cleaning stations, etc. but this order makes blanket closures vs. criteria for safe facilities. Much like letting restaurants have up to 50 outdoor diners, but churches can only have 10 outdoor worshippers, this is an example of policy with no common sense. As a Democrat, I expect more from Gov. Walz. We need policies that balance science and common sense.

Don't take a one size fits all approach to gyms and fitness studios. Smaller studios can open safely and are important to maintain the health of clients.

Boutique fitness and big box fitness are not the same. Boutique should be allowed to open.

My fitness boutique will take care
Of myself and it’s members with scientifically based hygiene protocols. Fitness boutiques do not have the same crowd challenges as large traditional gyms.

Open this state up! We are smart enough to keep each other safe. Give us our freedom back.

Pilates studio owners like myself have done thorough research to learn the CDC guidelines for cleaning and disinfecting our equipment and studio surfaces.
We will schedule more time in between appointments in order to clean and disinfect hard and soft surfaces.
And we will have safe practices like asking students if they have been ill or have any symptoms of illness.
As an industry, we already have guidelines urging students, owners, and contractors to stay home when they have any signs of illness.

I like others have and wish to continue to use small boutique fitness services for rehabilitation. I have congenital back & kidney issues. Pilates keeps me pain free. PLEASE allow them to open!

Owner of a small fitness studio where most classses are already l 10 or less people. No weights or machines to pass on the virus. Chances we can’t make it increase every day. We are closed. Let us open!

Small fitness facilities can manage the requirements you’ve established for salons, they should be allowed to reopen.

Please be more thoughtful when applying your business closures on gyms. Small fitness centers do not have the same congestion as larger ones and are able to do a better job taking safety measures. Additionally, they simply can’t afford the extensive shutdown financially.

These smaller venues, in my opinion, would be safer.
