I would feel very safe going to my Pilates studio. Class sizes are very small and by appointment only. They already had very strict cleaning guidelines before COVID was even heard of. The place is spotless! Please allow them to open! I really don’t want them to have to close permanently.

What's more, small fitness centers have reliable small staffs - both managers, trainers, and teachers - who know their students/clients well. Most of them were founded and are managed by women with a large number of women employees, just like salons.

Please open up the small boutique fitness studios June 1st. They serve as an essential business to not only help rehabilitate people to full life, but they are also non-discriminatory and body friendly small, private studios. Many of the studio owners and trainers have spent years in the industry in addition to getting advanced degrees in physical therapy, kinesiology, etc. They stay up-to-date with their own training and certifications, not only in their own practice, but in different modalities as well. Many clients drive hundreds of miles, sometimes a couple times per week, to go to their studio to work 1:1 with their trainer as the health benefits of doing so outweigh the couple of hour drive. We, as a society, have been encouraged to participate in our own health and well being, beyond that provided by standard health care and what is governed by health insurance limitations, etc. Why are we on the path of keeping people from well being - especially, at a time like this. The small studios are the panacea of social distancing and COVID-19 preparedness. This is negatively impacting thousands upon thousands of Minnesotans. Again, please open up the small boutique fitness studios June 1st.

I would feel very safe returning to my personal training studio. It will be a long time before I’ll even consider returning to LA fitness where I have a membership

Crossfit gyms can easily give their members a 6x6 space and limit class size to 10 people. We can also guarantee all equipment is wiped down before and after use and require people to wash their hands on the way in and out. We should not be stuck in this category because we are not a globo gym.

I have used Fitness Together in the past and my classes were always by appointment only and the instructor works one on one. So, this is NOT like a gym and cannot be and should not be grouped with the health club/gym categories.

Dear Governor Waltz
My health is suffering. I work from home & caregive fir mother who we can’t move to a care home due to COVID. My only stress relief & stress management was the ability to work out hard with weights. Yes I bike & walk. It’s not the same. Please don’t lump small boutique gyms in with big box. They are not the same & small gyms are able to limit # of people in at a time. Thank you

Please do more research, I own a small personal training gym and the first I heard of this was a friend posted it. I'm very upset and appalled at the lack of organization among small training gyms, no wonder why we're being reactive right now instead of proactive and open.
