Tell Gov Hochul to Sign Bill to Fund South Nassau Water Authority
Last year Governor Hochul enacted legislation that established both the North and South Nassau Water Authorities.
However, unlike the bill that established an authority to provide water to approximately 10,000 residents on the north shore, the South Nassau Water Act, which will serve a much larger population of over 200,000 south shore residents, failed to include any state funding.
To rectify this omission, Senator Brooks and Assemblywoman Griffin passed S7864b and A9307 in June 2022, which amends NYS General Municipal and the Public Authorities Laws so that the South Nassau Water Authority is also eligible for the $1 million in state funding per year that the water authority on the north shore will receive.
We, the undersigned, urge Governor Hochul to enact S7864b so that the South Nassau Water Authority can move forward with its acquisition of Liberty Water.
