Tell Hochul - Sign Bills To Takeover American Water

The private investor-owned monopoly model is severely flawed! NO ONE in the U.S. should be paying the exorbitant water bills that those of us with private water pay! NO company should be PROFITING off of water… a 9.75% GUARANTEED baseline! Now, is a once in a lifetime opportunity to correct this terrible injustice and provide us with AFFORDABLE PUBLIC WATER like everyone else on Long Island already has AND 95% of NYS. The OVERWHELMING evidence is in favor of PUBLIC water: Governor’s Special Counsel Report, 3 Feasibility Studies, and Suffolk County Water Authority’s proposal. Read the heart wrenching public comments section from rate case #20-W-0102 and #16-W-0259. There have been numerous petitions demanding that this problem be corrected once and for all. Please immediately sign the Water Authority Legislation into law.Thank you.

NY American Water must go!!

Water in the east is plentiful... and shouldn't cost so much -- it NEVER should've been PRIVATIZED -- and it's solely greed that allowed American Water to charge it's captive customers to have to pay 3x as much as their neighbors in the next zip code [outside of American Water's grafted monopoly]!

This is our only source of water and the company is charging fees equal to the cost of the water. My bill is $1,000 month including $500 in surcharges and fees. I can not afford this! This is absurd and we need public water. Please help your residents have access to public water that is available in other Long Island towns. How is government allowing its residence to be so taken advantage of?

Please help us out of this predicament. We deserve clean, affordable water. NYAW and their predecessors have always overcharged us for polluted water and inferior services. It’s been a long battle to get this bill back to your desk. Governor Cuomo didn’t sign this bill and cost us already over burdened victims of NYAW plenty of money and time . Don’t be like Cuomo, do the right thing !

It’s extremely unfair how our rates have increased exams we can’t even drink the tap water. We’ve had to pay for water filtrate systems for the house and not receive any money back from NYAM. It’s a disgrace to raise rates to double my bill.

I live in Massapequa and fall under NY Water and not Massapequa Water District. I pay three times what others in my town pay. This needs to stop. Access to affordable, clean water should be a right, not a privilege, or based on arbitrary boundaries.

It is very important for Governor Hochul to please help us by signing the Bill to takeover American Water.
