From the House to the Senate! ​Trump's Tax Plan = 20% Pay Cut for Grad Employees

This is a disgusting attempt to suppress education and squeeze money out of poor, hardworking, and vulnerable people and give it to those without the slightest shred of need. It's pure greed and demagoguery. No one could possibly vote for this in good conscience.

Students never see this waived tuition money. Forbes estimates that if they are taxed on income plus tuition waiver, many graduate students will pay effective tax rates on their *actual* income from 33-42% — in some cases higher than the rates that apply to the very highest earners. This absurdity will destroy a generation of graduate students, leading to a lack of scientists, engineers and other professionals a few years later. I am a PhD student in German literature at Rutgers protesting this unjust tax plan proposal.

This would be seriously detrimental to my ability to continue my education as I have no other income and cannot take on loans without putting myself in a risky financial position.

Stop the tax plan

Mr. Trump knows how to ruin all good things including the education system and research that run by grad students!!!

The United States government shouldn't balance budgets on the backs of doctoral workers. It's already well-known that PhD students in the U.S. get much smaller salaries than PhD students in European countries. Don't make it even worse!

Please do not burden PhD students who are doing research for the advancement of nation's progress.

Please don't add an undue financial burden to an already impoverished group of graduate students, without their work creativity and innovations which make this country competitive will reduce and we will lose workers to other countries. This is very bad for the workforce and the country not to mention inhumane to a selfless group of people. Keep or universities at the top of the class.

This is simply outrageous and unfair to impose more tax on poor graduate student employees.

I don't think this is fair for the students to pay more because instead of working for big MNC's they chose to serve community by exploring science. The pay scale we receive is so minimal for even one person to live comfortably.

The proposed tax cut would at most make up for a negligible amount of the annual deficit and total debt. It imposes an unfair financial burden on a community of people -- namely, graduate student employees -- who are among the least financially stable in the country.

We need a friendly environment for academy

As an international student, know I don't have many right to talk much about this issue. However, as I study in US for five years, so I think I should say a bit words. Unless United states don't want to be great again, they should not do it.This policy will give a big damage to higher academics system , not only for research, but also for college students.
