Well done Sophia and Anna! We are completely supportive of measures like this that can make it safer for young teens to protect themselves.

Teens need the ability to defend themselves from their attackers, and as long as they can be entrusted with this responsibility, I believe that this is a necessary precaution to take in ensuring the security of the younger population.

Dear all,
We are so grateful for everyone who signed the petition and left a comment. We would like to clear the FAQs or concerns that have arisen from the petition.
1) This is meant for both genders as it is a problem that occurs across the board.
2) We have done a large amount of research about this and concerns about the safety of people running around and spraying everyone are valid and we are aware of them. Though this is a problem, think of the pain of getting raped without defense. If your parent is concerned about you walking home alone and feels the need to give you pepper spray for safety reasons they should be able to do this. Every single purchase made by a minor would have to be approved by a guardian over 18.
3) We are one of the 17 states (I know DC is not a state but the area I guess) that have restrictions. The remaining 33 states are not having many problems with it.
4) Please research and think before you hate
PS. Check out Lilly Akhtarzandi-Das' comment as it speaks loudly and clearly:
This is a good cause because so many young teens are victims of sexual assault. Their vulnerability makes them an easy target. If a parent feels their child is mature and responsible enough to carry a can of pepper spray on them, then they should be allowed to have one for self-defense. Just because it would be legal doesn't mean a parent has no choice but to give their child a can. For those who couldn't fight back, if it was legal and they had a pepper spray can, imagine what the outcome could've been; another sexual assault, that could've been prevented.
Thanks!

I agree with allowing younger people to have access, but they have to be committed to acting with responsibilitie.
