U.S. Customs and Border Protection closed a section of the southern border with Mexico on Sunday and fired tear gas at a group of migrants that tried to breach a fence separating the two countries. With no congressional approval the administration fired teargas into Mexico. Congress needs to reign in this abuse of power. The law says that the migrants can apply for assylem. This is a violation of the soverignty of Mexico and U.S. law.

ASK:

Please sign and share this petition and please call contact your congress member, (202) 224-3121 and demand that they hold the administration acountable for this violation.

Thank You,

California Partnership

Reaching this level of support confirms that many people are deeply troubled by the recent events at our border. It is encouraging to see such a widespread commitment to holding our officials accountable for these actions.

This is an outrageous and horrifying response to kids, moms and dads -- asylum seekers -- desperate to escape violence back home. My own grandparents came here for the same reason, how about yours? Do not gas children! Do not militarize our border! There is a humane solution to this. This heartless response must be halted before people get seriously hurt.

Immigrants are legally allowed to seek asylum in the United States. Tear-gassing toddlers in diapers is shamefully inhumane and unAmerican.

After giving thanks for all the blessings we've been given and in the midst of the holiday season, it is an immoral disgrace to treat the least fortunate as the US Border Patrol has. We are the nation who welcomes the tired, the poor, the huddled masses. Remember we strive to become beacons of home, not of disgrace.

Stop attacking hungry human beings including women and children. Allow them to apply for asylum as the U.S code dictates.

It's high-time that the U.S. follows U.N. standards when it comes to asylum seekers. It's time for the U.S. to represent the decency and humane laws of justice that exists beyond borders and nation-states. The natural rights of all humans should be respected, as should be expected given that we hum the Golden Rule to ourselves for millennia.

Gassing people who are looking for asylum and the opportunity to improve their lives is an arrogant and totally unnecessary thing to do.
